The Bald Cypress Tree

a tree next to a body of water

This Bald Cypress tree is very old. It is extremely difficult to age them as, it has been recorded, they can put on 15 rings in a year. These trees absorb their surrounding cypress knees giving them their unique shape. You can see this tree on our tour but there are many others scattered around the lake. The majority of the trees are much younger due to the harvesting in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, for pier and beam, used in the construction of houses as this wood is not vulnerable to rot and insects. Come and take a tour and learn more interesting information on the area. Spring Break is around the corner and we are filling up fast, so make your reservations on line, or you can call. We look forward to seeing you.
